Police keeps tight vigil as notorious criminal ties the knot
Apprehending a possible gang-war, scores of policemen on Sunday kept a tight vigil as a notorious criminal tied the nuptial knot at a village here.
The village Bherokhera was virtually turned into fortress as police teams from Khaithal, the native place of bridegroom Satbir alias Jhabbal, and Jind made sure that there was no untoward incident though none from the bride or the groom's side had sought security.
The heightened alert came after an encounter between polie and wanted criminal Virendra alias Kana and Vikas alias Babloo near the village. Virendra's gang has been at loggerhead with Jhabbal's gang for last couple of years.
A large number of people carrying fire arms attended the ceremony. When asked whether the police had checked if the guests had licensed weapons, SHO, Julana, Rohtash said,"Only a few guests are carrying weapons and they have the license".
On the huge police presence, he said, "Police security was not sought. We are here just as a precautionaly step to prevent any untoward incident."
