Police removes poster after Bachchan tweet

The Bihar police found itself in a tough spot after actor Amitabh Bachchan threatened to take legal action against the force for using posters with his photograph without his consent in the Naxal-affected district of Kaimur. The police was forced to bring down the posters immediately after the threat.
The poster had a poem alongside Bachchan’s photograph, urging the youth to join the police and stated that it was better to wear a police uniform than to follow the Maoist path of violence.
The poster was the brainchild of district SP Umashankar Sudhanshu, and part of the police programme “Adhaura 30,” through which poor youth were appealed to join the force. Mr Sudhanshu had claimed that he stumbled upon the idea of using Bachchan’s photograph after he saw a promotional campaign on his game show Kaun Banega Crorepati, in which he had recited a poem about knowledge being the supreme thing in life.
His idea, however, did not go down well with the actor.

Umesh Mohite
Mumbai, Nov. 11

Shiv Sena spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday said that party chief Bal Thackeray’s health condition is improving and that the Sena leader has conveyed his Diwali wishes to people.
The ailing leader was much better as confirmed by Mr Raut and MLC Nilam Gorhe, who visited him on Sunday.
“That Balasaheb is seriously ill are mere rumours. He is perfectly all right, much better than yesterday. There is no reason for worry,” said Mr Raut after his visit to the Sena supremo at Matoshree. The MP added that the entire Maharahtra is worried about Mr Thackeray’s health.
“His health is improving. He has wished all the people of Maharashtra on the occasion of Diwali,” informed Mr Raut. Ms Gorhe also confirmed the same. She added that Mr Thackeray asked about what the daily newspapers were carrying.
Meanwhile, by midday, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, yet again, visited Matoshree.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
