Police suspect Rajan, Shakeel
Master gangster Chhota Rajan’s henchman Farid Tanasha was shot dead at his residence and the investigating agency is of the opinion that there are three viable possibilities. It could be the handiwork of Rajan himself or it could be Bharat Nepali, a lieutenant of Rajan who turned renegade. The third alternative is that it could be the work of rival gangster Chhota Shakeel.
According to the senior crime branch officials, the way the shootout has been carried out clearly indicates that some insider had given a tip-off to the assailants. “The way the whole incident has taken place clearly shows that it was well-planned attack and the assailants had come to eliminate Farid and not to scare him. Over and above that they knew the way around his house,” said senior crime branch officials.
“Usually six to eight bouncers are stationed outside Farid’s place and an equal number of persons are inside his ground floor house,” said the official. “Just ten minutes before the incident took place, Farid had told all of them to go to their house as he had to go for his check-up early in the morning,” said an official. “What is very surprising is that the main door of his house was left open. The assailants were clearly well aware that all the guards had left,” said the source.
According to the statement given by his wife, she did not see any assailants, as her face was facing one of the walls and they fired from behind. Farid’s three-year-old daughter was eating dinner in the living room. His servant was in the compound feeding dogs when assailants entered the house.
