‘Prabhakaran’s son shot in cold blood’
Slain LTTE chief Velupillai Prabha-karan’s 12-year-old son Balachandran is shown stripped to the waist and dead with five bullet holes in his chest in yet another UK Channel Four bombshell that struck Colombo as its foreign minister is trying hard to ward off a United States resolution at UNHCR in Geneva seeking a war crimes probe.
The explicit May 18, 2009 footage is being screened at Geneva’s FIFDH film festival Sunday night and will be aired Wednesday by Channel Four at 10.55 pm (4.25 am IST Thursday). It will not only embarrass Sri Lanka at UNHCR; it will also make India uncomfortable, given that external affairs minister S.M. Krishna and his officials have been trying hard to bail out Colombo.
The footage is said to be from a “trophy video” shot by some Sri Lankan troops present at the cold-blooded execution of the Prabhakaran family at the end of the Eelam war.
Channel Four is showing it as a sequel to its film shown last year accusing both the LTTE and the Sri Lankan government of war crimes.
