Prasar Bharati recruitment board on anvil
The Union government is working towards creation of a recruitment board for Prasar Bharati. The need for the recruitment board arose after the broadcasting body came under criticism for ad hoc appointments.
Union information and broadcasting minister Ambika Soni stated that the group of ministers, which is already looking into the financial restructuring of Prasar Bharati, has sought the creation of the board. “The GoM has directed the body to frame recruitment rules. A final date of July 31 has been given for framing recruitment rules,” she add-ed. Once the rules are fra-med by the GoM it will be presented before the Union finance ministry for its approval. The decision was taken at the meeting of the GoM on Prasar Bharati held on June 15. The GoM is headed by Union home minister P. Chidamabaram. Urban development minister Jaipal Reddy, information and broadcasting minister Ambika Soni and law minister M. Veerappa Moi-ly are the other members.
