Prasar Bharti spent `305 cr in CWG broadcast
The Prasar Bharti spent nearly `305 crores in the broadcast of the Commonwealth Games, including outsourcing of production and coverage facilities and hosting of website for the broadcaster.
An expenditure of `211.11 crores has been incurred by Prasar Bharti till November 12 out of the allocated budget of `366 crores, Information and broadcasting minister Ambika Soni informed the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
An amount of `2.67 crores was also spent by AIR and `15 crores by DD to perform the role as right holding broadcaster in India.
In addition to these expenditure incurred by Prasar Bharti, an amount of `75.77 crores was provided to ITPO towards rentals, upgrading of infrastructure and facilities, electricity and water charges for setting up the International broadcasting centre and setting up of main press centre at the ITPO, she said.
The amount mentioned includes purchase of IT equipment and office furniture. In addition, 300 DD personnel were trained in handling HDTV and HD coverage, she added.
Out of the total expenditure of `211.11 crores incurred by Prasar Bharti, `205.88 crores was spent on outsourcing of production and coverage facilities, setting up of international broadcast centre and customisation of space at broadcast compounds.
