Prasar CEO issue raised in House
The issue of Central Vigilance Commission’s “strong condemnation” regarding Prasar Bharati’s CEO’s activities was raised in the Parliament on Monday. Raising the issue during Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, CPI member Syed Azeez Pasha wanted to know why the government was silent on the issue.
“The Central Vigilance Commission has passed strictures against the functioning of CEO in a minimum of five different cases,” the CPI MP said. Mr Pasha said infighting between members of the Prasar Bharati board has also led to “a portrayal of an organisation in drift.”
Meanwhile, through another issue, Shiv Sena member Mr Manohar Joshi demanded a nation-wide ban on a book on Shivaji, written by American author James Laine.
He said the book Shivaji: Hindu King in Islamic India has created unrest in Maharashtra and other parts of the country.
Expressing concern over rotting of wheat lying in open, BJP member Mr Kalraj Mishra said while so many people go hungry, wheat continues to rot despite directive by the Food Minister to the official to make storage arrangement.
Even the Supreme Court had felt that foodgrains, which were allowed
to rot, could have been utilised for the poor, he said.
