Prepared for passport confiscation, arrest: Yasin

Pro-independence Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) faction leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is currently on a personal visit to Pakistan, will be returning to New Delhi on March 9 on way back to Srinagar, party sources here said on Friday.
Malik, who is married to a Pakistani national Mushaal Hussein Mullick, was in the thick of a controversy recently after Ameer (chief) of Jama’t ud Da’wah Hafiz Muhammad Saeed who is accused of being the 26/11 mastermind joined him at a protest sit-in against Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru’s execution. BJP and supporting political parties and groups had demanded that Malik’s passport be revoked for sharing the dais with Saeed in Pakistan and the MEA officials in New Delhi said that was possible only if it receives a request. Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin had said the passport was given to Malik after getting a “no objection” from other Indian ministries and agencies.
He had also said “When violation (of provisions of passport) is indicated... when it is brought to our notice, we will act” and that the government would act with Malik “as fit of a citizen of India”.
Malik had responded saying that jail is his second home and he was not afraid of getting arrested nor was impounding his passport an issue as that would not stop him from asking for right to self determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Ms Mushaal had given birth to a baby girl in Pakistan last year who has since been named as Razia Sultana after Raziyya al-Din, usually referred to in history as Razia Sultana who was the Sultana of Delhi from 1236 to 1240 and the only woman ruler of both the Sultanate and the Mughal period. The primary purpose of Malik’s visit to Pakistan last month was to help them in paper work towards bringing them along to Srinagar.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
