President Pratibha Patil on four-day visit to Vidrabha
President Pratibha Patil will inaugurate a renovated railway station in Amravati and flag off a new bi-weekly train as part of her four-day visit to Vidrabha, which begins on Saturday, officials said.
Governor K. Sankaranarayanan, district guardian minister Shivajirao Moghe, local MP and Congress general secretary Vilas Muttemwar received her at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport here.
Accompanied by Shankanarayanan and Moghe, Patil later flew to Amravati, her home district, where she will stay till December 13 before returning to the city on her way back to Delhi.
Besides, inaugurating the railway station and flagging off Amravati-Tirupati Express train, the President will also attend a felicitation of former Kerala governor R.S. Gavai and release a postal stamp in the honour of renowned Hindi poet Pradeep, officials said.
