Probe into 'info leak'
Chennai, Dec. 27: The Centre would probe whether any official information was leaked to corporate lobbyist, Ms Niira Radia, by the BJP general secretary, Mr Ananth Kumar, when he was the civil aviation minister during the NDA regime, said the Union minister of state for parliamentary affairs, Mr V. Narayanasamy, on Monday.
“The revelation that Ms Radia is close to Mr Kumar is a slap on the BJP’s face. The government will investigate whether any official decision was passed on to Ms Radia by Mr Kumar. The sharing of official information is an anti-national act,” Mr Narayanasamy said.
Ms Radia’s former business partner, Mr Rao Dheeraj Singh, had told a TV channel last week alleged that Mr Kumar and Ms Radia were known to each other well.
Mr Narayanasamy said the Lok Sabha Speaker, Ms Meira Kumar, has called for an all-party meeting in New Delhi on December 30 and 31 to sort out the issue regarding the stalling of the Parliament. Terming the BJP’s action of stalling Parliament proceedings for 22 days consecutively demanding a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum issue as “anti-democratic”, he said, “Its (BJP) decision to stall Parliament is also a political one”.
Meanwhile, the Congress in Karnataka sought the resignation of Mr Kumar from the Lok Sabha “till he cleared his name of his alleged links with Ms Radia”. The Congress said Mr Kumar was not giving an explanation openly.
