Probe points to Bharat Nepali role
Two days after the murder of Chhota Rajan aide, Farid Tanasha, the investigations are suggesting that it was the handiwork of Bharat Nepali. Nepali had already claimed responsibility for the attack, though at the time, the police attributed the admission to the fact that gangland operatives are quick to come forward to claim credit for a big hit even if it is not their handiwork.
According to sources, the investigators have got two or three names, including that of the insider who must have given the information about the topography of the house. “It is very likely that the person may have brou-ght the shooter to the house couple of times,” said the source and added, “Nepali usually hires gunmen from Govandi, Mulund and Dombivali area.”
“The people who have been arrested for killing Shahid Azmi too belonged to these areas,” said a senior crime branch official and added, “Farid was into redevelopment in and around Tilak Nagar and this could have been the motive for his killings as Nepali too is trying to get into same business after leaving the Rajan gang. This is one of the reasons for which Nepali could have decided to eliminate Farid.” According to sources, Rajan had warned Farid to leave Tilak Nagar.
