Probe sought into actions of ex-CJI
Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reform (CJAR) has urged the President and the Prime Minister to make a reference to the Supreme Court for inquiry into several acts of misbehaviour of Justice K. G. Balakrishnan, chairman of National Human Rights Commission and ex-Chief Justice of India.
CJAR is a movement patronised by leading personalities and committed towards bringing about an accountable, accessible and transparent judicial system. Writing on behalf of the campaign, its working committee member and senior lawyer Prashant Bhusahan urged the President and the Prime Minister to seriously look into the several serious allegations that have been levelled against kin of Justice Balakrishnan.
In separate letters to the President and the PM, the campaign maintained that each of these charges was supported by documentary evidence that underlines how each of his close relatives had managed to amass wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.
