Prohibitory orders imposed in Arunachal capital complex
Prohibitory orders were on Thursday night put in place in Arunchal Pradesh Capital complex here after violence and arson was reported from different parts of the city, official sources said.
Prohibitory Orders under Section 144 Crpc was imposed in the capital complex, the sources said.
With deteriorating law and order situation and dozens of people belonging to a particular community fleeing the capital for fear of reprisal, Governor Gen (retd) J J Singh joined various organizations in his appeal for maintaining peace and communal harmony.
Ruling Congress has constituted a peace committee to assess the damages caused to private and government properties and the number of victims, the Nyishi Elite Society and All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) also appealed for communal harmony and peace to bring back normalcy.
The Galo Welfare Society, in its appeal, urged its members to return to the capital to join the peace process.
The state capital witnessed violence and group clashes during the bandh and a rally on Tuesday in which some people were injured.
The proposed visit of a three-member team of All India Congress Committee (AICC) comprising Sushil Shinde, B K Handique and state in-charge Dhaniram Shandil to Itangar on Friday has been postponed, party sources said.
