Protesters threaten suppliers of NHPC
The panic and fear has gripped the officials of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation after anti-dam protesters started threatening the suppliers of essentials to Subansiri Hydro-Electric Project on Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.
Disclosing that all the patrol depot in Northern Assam’s Dhemaji and North Lakhimpur districts have been threatened to stop fuel supply to the NHPC, authoritative security sources told this newspaper that a Pune based NGO which is suspected to have been getting fund from China is also under the scanner for funding the anti-dam agitation in Assam.
Informing that security agencies are keeping close watch over the activities of NGO, security sources admitted that anonymous callers are also threatening NHPC officials in the name of various outlawed organisations. The general manager of the Lower Subansiri Hydro-Electric Project Om Prakash who also received anonymous calls threatening to blow up the project has filed an FIR at the Gogamukh police station in Dhemaji district.
He also handed over the mobile number from which the threat calls were originating. Dhemaji SP P.K. Kar said that the police have already identified the owner of the mobile phone from which the call was made to the NHPC.
