Protests at mp minister’s house over girl death
Protesters turned out in large numbers and the police had to use force to control the mob that converged at Madhya Pradesh home minister Uma Shankar Gupta’s residence on Tuesday to register their anger against the brutal killing of an 8-year-old girl, whose mutilated body was found near the minister’s residence by a passerby on Monday.
Madhya Pradesh women’s Congress activists and the slum-dwellers from the victim’s locality joined the protest, shouted slogans and burnt the home minister’s effigy.
According to the T.T. Nagar police here, the girl’s body, a part of it eaten by dogs, was sent for post-mortem and later handed over to the deceased’s father, Dhirendra Dhuria, who lives in a rented slum near the police station.
A police officer on duty said that the girl went missing from a fair.
