Queen Elizabeth II will not attend the October 3-14 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, breaking a tradition of over 40 years.
This will be the first time since 1966 that the Queen will not be at the Games.

Prince Charles will represent the royal family at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games.
The Mail on Sunday reported here that the Queen will not be able to attend due to her heavy workload. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed that the Queen’s “sheer volume of engagements” ruled out a New Delhi visit in October for the games.
