Question hour shift unlikely
The issue of shifting of Question Hour in Parliament is set to turn out to be a non-starter with some Opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha coming out against the move, the government sources said here on Monday. An indication to this effect was available after the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Upper House. A meeting of the BAC of the Lok Sabha is scheduled on Tuesday.
Earlier, the government had said it has an open mind on the issue of shifting the Question Hour in Parliament from the customary 11 am to some other time to enable Opposition members to raise matters of urgent public importance.
Question Hour could not be taken up for four days in the Lok Sabha and seven days in the Rajya Sabha in the second part of the Budget session as Opposition parties created ruckus and disrupted proceedings over some issue or the other, often forcing the presiding officers to adjourn the House without taking up a single question.
