Quit CPM: Slain leader's wife to Achuthanandan
Opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandan should make his political stance clear by leaving the CPM and openly leading a proper left alternative to the CPM, said Rema, widow of slain RMP leader, T.P.Chandrasekharan.
In her first exclusive interview after her husband’s death, Rema said that T.P. became a martyr because he extended full support to the ideological stand adopted by VS within the party.
If VS had taken a leading role earlier, his countless supporters would have left the party thus strengthening the movement led by T.P, she said.
TP never watered down his ideology. If he had been ready to dilute his ideological war, he would have been alive now, she added.
“T.P is a martyr due to Achuthanandan’s failure in identifying the historical moment of correcting the CPM”, she said.
The political history of the state would have been different had V.S taken the right step then. Corrupt elements within the CPM would not have dared to kill a person of comrade T.P’s stature”, she added.
On taking a lead role in politics, Rema said that at the moment she hadn’t taken a decision on leading the party.
“It is my duty to carry on the dreams of comrade T.P and I will be with the party to perpetuate his dreams. But I am not prepared to lead the party at this moment”, she said.
