Rahul ends tour, SP returns fire
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi wrapped up his five-day tour of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday by exhorting the people to work towards a change in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing a rally in Ramabai Nagar on Saturday, Mr Gandhi said that the Congress was an all-inclusive party that did not cater to one particular caste or religion.
“When we work for progress it is for the progress of all. The Congress is a party for progress for development,” he said.
The Congress MP said that while “the BJP sold the God to get votes, the Samajwadi Party got power on the strength of certain caste groups and so did Mayawati”.
“What did you get in the end except corruption?” he asked. “It is your money, your future, and you deserve to get a better deal,” he said. The SP, that has been under attack from the Congress MP for its aversion to English and computers, said countries which gave importance to their native language have shown they progress faster. “We have never been against computers and English and our opposition has been against its forced usage,” said state SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.
