Rahul should play larger role: Gehlot
Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot Friday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should get a larger role at the centrestage in the party and it was the “feeling of the party”.
Mr Gehlot welcomed the move of making Rahul the head of party’s coordination committee for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
“It was the feeling of the party that Rahul should get a larger role,” he said.
“Congress workers and leaders had a feeling and wish that Rahul should get a larger role at the centre stage. I am happy and glad that he has started preparations to play his role actively and will fulfil the responsibility given by the party president,” Mr Gehlot told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
Mr Gehlot claimed the Opposition parties wanted to stall development in the country to create resentment among public but they have been exposed now.
“Other political parties were making environment and conspiring to destabilise the government which is not in the interest of the country. It demoralises people, government and officers cannot take proper decision which results in resentment among people and ultimately, aam aadmi has to suffer,” the chief minister said.
“The Opposition wanted to create such an environment to come to the power, but they have been exposed and the Congress has challenged them. Now they are facing internal feud about their president,” Mr Gehlot said.

AP govt may face second no-trust move
Ch. V.M. KRISHNA RAO
Hyderabad, Nov. 16
The Kiran Kumar Reddy government faces the prospect of a second no-confidence motion amidst high drama being enacted by Opposition parties, especially the Telugu Desam and the YSR Congress.
TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Friday that his party has no objection to moving the motion if the need arises for the sake of the people of the state who have been suffering under Congress rule. But he was reluctant to do so at the behest of the YSR Congress.
“They (the YSR Congress) want to blackmail the Congress on this pretext and seek favours from the government and ensure release of Jagan Mohan Reddy from jail. We don’t encourage such things. We will not play to their tune,” he said.
On Thursday, YSR Congress’ M.V. Mysoora Reddy had publicly asked the TDP leadership to move the no-confidence motion since it is the principal opposition party, and its president Mr Naidu has been saying publicly that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government cannot continue even for a minute.
Dr Mysura Reddy also said that if the TDP moves the motion, the YSRC will support it. If the TDP has any difficulty, the YSRC will move the motion and the TDP should support it, he said.
Reacting to this, Mr Naidu, during his padayatra programme in Chevella in Ranga Reddy district, said on Friday evening, “The YSR Congress is demanding no-confidence motion to be moved by Telugu Desam. Those leaders (YSR Congress) do not even know the basics of the motion. It cannot be moved according to their wishes and as and when they demand. It can be moved only during an Assembly session. We know their intention in demanding such a motion. They want to blackmail the Congress on this pretext and seek favours from the government and ensure release of Jagan Mohan Reddy from jail. We don’t encourage such things. We will not play to their tune.”
