Rahul: Will fulfil dreams of poor
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi termed healthcare as the biggest reason of poverty and indicated that the free medicine scheme introduced by the Congress government in Rajasthan will be implemented across the country.
Addressing a crowded rally in Baran on Tuesday, Mr Gandhi lashed out at the Opposition BJP without naming it and said the Opposition made a futile exercise to put a spanner in passing the food security bill.
There was a sea of people to greet him, including a large number of women.
Addressing the women, he asked them to cultivate dreams for their children.
“It will be so good if you have biggest dreams for your children. Let them be a pilot so that they can fly the aeroplane or run a train as driver. You know a daily wage earner spends good amount of his earnings on health when taken ill, that is why the Congress government made free the medicines in Rajasthan,” Mr Gandhi said.
Mr Gandhi drew a parallel between his party and the BJP and said the Opposition excluded poor people from development while his party always made them part of development.
The Congress vice-president again cited a slogan coined by him “Puri roti khayenge, Congress ko layenge (We will eat roti and bring the Congress back in power).”
