Raids: Kani sees clean finish
Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi’s daughter, Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi, on Thursday said the series of raids by the CBI on Tuesday and a week earlier in connection with the 2G spectrum scam at her offices and residential premises, and those of former Union communications and IT minister A. Raja’s relatives and associates, would not affect the DMK’s ties with the Congress.
Describing the raids as “due process of law”, Ms Kanimozhi told reporters here that the DMK would come out clean in the 2G spectrum scam. “We will definitely come out clean. The DMK is open to the investigation and is not against it,” she added. “Together (the Congress and DMK) will prove that nothing wrong is going on.”
Ms Kanimozhi found support for her take on the state of the alliance from the state unit of the Congress, which has otherwise been critical of the DMK in the recent past. State Congress president K.V. Thangka-balu on Wednesday said the alliance would not be affected by the CBI raids, contradicting former Union minister E.V.K.S. Elango-van’s statement on Tuesday that it would be hard for the party to go to the impending Assembly polls in the wake of the 2G raids.
