Raj lauds Modi, Bal criticises fast
MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s new-found friendship with Narendra Modi has not gone down well with the Shiv Sena. While Raj Thackeray on Monday supported Mr Modi’s candidature for the Prime Minister’s post, the Sena, BJP’s alliance partner, has criticised the Gujarat chief minister for projecting his secular image.
Raj Thackeray visited Ahmedabad on Monday morning and met Mr Modi. After returning to Mumbai, Raj Thackeray said that he would support the Gujarat
CM as the future PM candidate.
“I would like it if Mr Modi becomes PM. Our country is going through a critical phase riddled with corruption and scandals. We need a good
captain,” he said.
Incidentally, while Raj Thackeray was showering praises on Mr Modi, Sena supremo Bal Thackeray lashed out against him. Through an editorial in Sena
mouthpiece Saamana, Mr Thackeray reminded the Gujarat CM that he had achieved success because of Hidutva.
The Sena chief said that Mr Modi’s fast and the Sadbhavna mission was part of his preparations to “capture” New Delhi.
