Raja in Delhi for CBI grilling

New Delhi/Chennai: DMK leader and former communications minister A. Raja on Wednesday promised to cooperate with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in its probe into the allocation of the 2G spectrum allocation and arrived in the capital in the evening.

"I will be in New Delhi for two or three days and cooperate with the investigating agencies," Raja told reporters in Chennai, before leaving for the capital.

"I have informed the CBI that I will be in Delhi for two or three days," he added.

Official sources said Raja, who allegedly allotted spectrum to mobile companies at below market prices causing huge losses to the government, is expected to appear before the CBI on December 24.

Raja has denied charges of wrongdoing. On Monday, he said that he had sought time from the CBI as he had some personal work to attend in Chennai and sought fresh dates for his questioning.

The CBI earlier this month searched Raja's houses in New Delhi and in Tamil Nadu as well as the houses and business premises of his relatives and associates.

The CBI also raided premises of corporate lobbyist Niira Radia and an NGO linked to DMK MP and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi.
