Former Union minister A Raja’s nephew died mysteriously while working out in a gym in TTK Road, Alwarpet on Wednesday night.
The victim Deepak Pushpanathan (30), resident of T Nagar complained of chest pain and was declared dead at a private hospital, sources said
Pushpanathan, was associated with DB Etisalat, a company under the CBI's scanner in the 2G scam case. His house was raided in December last along with those of Raja and a key aide Sadiq Batcha, who was reportedly found hanging at his residence in Chennai.
According to reports, while exercising, he complained to the instructor of discomfort and chest pain. Immediately he was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but suffered a cardiac arrest on the way and was declared dead on arrival.
According to his family members he was a diabetic and also suffering from low Bood Pressure.
The victim’s mother Vijayalakshmi Pushpanathan is Raja's elder sister. Deepak's family has not yet registered a police complaint.
A trainer at the gym on the condition of anonymity said “Deepak joined the gym only yesterday and despite suffering from low BP he had failed to disclose his chronic ailments while filling up the membership form.”
“We sent him for a warm up and he swooned after he stepped on the tread-mill”, he said.
Deepak is survived by wife Roshini Kamdar and two-year-old daughter Diya.
