Raja quits, at long last
New Delhi, Nov. 14: Named in the Rs 1,76,000 crore scam, the embattled telecom minister, A. Raja, resigned on Sunday night.
Mr Raja flew from Chennai to New Delhi and drove straight to the house of the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, and submitted his resignation.
“In order to avoid embarrassment to the government and maintain peace and harmony in Parliament, my leader (DMK chief M. Karunanidhi) has advised me to resign,” Mr Raja told PTI.
