Rajasthan govt, HPCL sign MoU to set up oil plant
With an eye on polls, the Congress government in Rajasthan has speed up work on setting up oil refinery at Pachpadra under Barmer district. The state government and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) signed MoU to set up a nine million tonne refinery in Barmer district.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot termed the refinery as one of the major step towards the development of state.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday in Jaipur, Mr Gehlot said the refinery will not only generate large-scale employment but also give a boost to the economy of the state. The MoU was signed in presence of Mr Gehlot and senior HPCL officials at the secretariat. A section of farming community, however, opposed the site marked at Pachpadra for the refinery.
