Rajnath attacks Congress over graft

In Goa, the BJP is banking on anti-incumbency and corruption charges against the ruling Congress to bring itself back to power. The party is also highlighting the “dynastic politics” of the Congress in its poll campaigns. In its poll manifesto, BJP has not only promised regulation of legal mining and reviewing of the industrial policy, it has also promised a monthly allowance for the unemployed.

The party has also promised a special package for the tourism industry, which provides livelihood to a majority population in the state. It has also promised a special force for securing heritage monuments, museums and religious institutions.
While the BJP and its allies have been attacking the Congress-led UPA at the Centre for growing inflation and price rise, in Goa the BJP has promised a monthly allowance of `1,000 for housewives. The party, if comes to power, will also implement the Ladli Laxmi Yojana Scheme, as implemented in some of the BJP-ruled states. The party has also promised to reduce the petrol price by `11 per litre by abolishing VAT. It has also promised to make Goa a “model state” which “believes in broad principles of equality.”
Former BJP chief Rajnath Singh, while addressing a public meeting in Vasco da Gama, promised “good governance” and a “corruption free” environment.
The party has also promised in its poll document setting up a Lokayukta in the state within 100 days of coming to power.
“Under the Congress government, rampant illegal mining has been taking place. It has failed to take any action against illegal mining. As per media reports, there has been a mining scam of `25,000 crore in Goa alone,” said the senior BJP leader while addressing the public gathering.
On the price rise issue, Mr Rajnath Singh said “prices of essential commodities are increasing every day. Spiralling prices of essential commodities in the past few years have reduced the purchasing power of the people.”
On the “dynastic politics” issue, Mr Singh said “it is surprising that Congress distributed 12 tickets among members of four families. And most of them were not even active in politics.
