Rajnath: Edu system was British idea to ‘subjugate Indian minds’

BJP chief Rajnath Singh, had who had recently drawn flak for blaming the English for India’s social and cultural ills, on Monday said India’s education system was a British legacy aimed at “subjugating Indian minds” that had led to “cultural pollution.”

Addressing a meeting of the party’s teachers’ cell, Mr Singh asked teachers to think about changes to make Indian academic system suitable for Indian thought and culture. He also said that many research works being carried out across the world had their roots in India.
He said the British came up with an education system meant to keep “our youth uninformed about their rich culture and tradition.”
