Rajya Sabha adjourned till Thursday
New Delhi, July 28: The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day Wednesday amidst demands from the entire opposition for a discussion on the price rise under an adjournment motion that entails voting.
The house was first adjourned till 12 noon but as the din continued when it resumed, Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourned it till Thursday.
The trouble began as soon as the house assembled at 11 a.m., with all opposition members on their feet demanding a discussion under rule 168 that entails voting.
Some members of the ruling party countered by demanding that question hour proceed on schedule.
Repeated pleas for order from Ansari fell on deaf ears and the slogan shouting continued. Finally, Ansari had to adjourn the house.
