Raman: Will sue ‘conspirators’
Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh on Wednesday took strong exception to the alleged attempt by some Congress leaders to “tarnish” his image by “mischievously” linking him to allotment of mining leases in Madhya Pradesh to a private entrepreneur and threatened to sue them.
A section of media quoted the charges purportedly made by some Congress leaders in Madhya Pradesh, saying that Dr Singh has “used” his influence to award prospective licence to mine nickel and manganese ores in 930 hectares in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh to one of his relations.
Inspired by the media reports, the Congress staged a demonstration here demanding a CBI probe. The activists also burnt his effigies.
“The allegations are totally baseless and politically motivated to tarnish my clean image. I will take stringent legal action and not spare anyone involved in the conspiracy,” a visibly upset Mr Singh said.
When his attention was drawn to media reports, quoting the allegations levelled by Leader of the Opposition in the MP Assembly Ajay Singh, he said, “The Congress leader has already denied having given such a statement.”
