Ramdev asks Omar to perform ‘pranayaam’

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, in his usual maverick way, has suggested the “stressed out, beleaguered” J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah to perform “Pranayaam to de-stress himself and thus avoid controversies.”
“Pranayaam ki unko sakht zaroorat hai. Ek unka tanaav dur hoga aur unkay bheetar rashtra prem aur desh ke prati jazba bhar jaayega… (Pranayaam would not only distress him, but would also invigorate patriotic feel inside). This would also help him avoid getting himself entangled in the controversies by giving uncalled for statements like the one he recently made in the state Assembly,” Baba Ramdev maintained.
He was addressing the media after holding his first ever “Yoga Shivir” in the winter capital of the state.
Commenting on Omar’s statement, yogic expert stated that no chief minister or a person sitting on a constitutional position should make such statements.
“This is very unfortunate. His intent is not malicious, his soul is pure, he’s a patriot but perhaps this is his compulsion which is making him to make such statements aimed at strengthening the separatists in the state,” Baba Ramdev commented.
When asked as whether India should initiate dialogue process with Pakistan over Kashmir, his said, “Talks with Pakistan to resolve Kashmir issue, does not make any sense. Pakistan is not a solution to any problem, it’s a problem in itself. And a problem can never be a solution or part of solution. That country itself is grappling with the problems of unemployment, hunger, illiteracy. Pakistan itself is underdeveloped and is witnessing the bloodshed of worst kind, how can it bring peace in Kashmir.

Doordarshan apologises to Malawi
Age Correspondent
New Delhi

Oct. 10: Doordarshan has apologised to Malawi after its commentators made certain “derogatory remarks” against the African nation. The remarks came during the inauguration ceremony of the Commonwealth Games. Official sources stated that Doordarshan director-general Aruna Sharma has written a letter to Malawi’s high commissioner to India Chrissie Chawanje Mughogho stating that the remarks of the commentator were “unintentional”.
“Allow me to tender an unconditional apology for the remarks made on Malawi during the opening ceremony on DD Sports channel,” Ms Sharma stated in the letter. Sources said that Ms Sharma’s apology came after the DD commentator reportedly said that “Malawi was amongst the world’s least developed countries”. Ms Mughogho had shot off a letter to her voicing concern over the commentator’s remarks.
“I have checked with my team and let me assure you that these comments were never made deliberately,” the DD chief said.
She said that commentators have been instructed to be most careful while including information about any Commonwealth country. “We have to be careful so that we do not hurt anyone’s feelings by such inadvertent comments,” Ms Sharma wrote in the letter.

Snake caught from Village
Oct. 10: Yet another snake was rescued by the Wildlife SOS from the gate of the Commonwealth Games village here in the early hours of Sunday.
So far, five snakes, four of them being cobras, have been rescued from the Village gate and other Games venue.
According to Kartick Satyanarayan, co-founder of Wildlife SOS, the call was received by the animal rescue unit around 1.45 a.m. The team reached there within 15 minutes and rescued a three-foot long krait snake. Mr Satyanarayan said that his teams were alert and working hard to ensure that the games remain incident free and the animals are rescued. “Our teams have also been rescuing birds and bats from stadia and other CWG venues, as and when we get a call from the venue service managers or personnel from the organising committee,” said Mr Satyanarayan.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
