Ranjitha complains against Sun TV

A new missile landed on the Marans on Tuesday with actor Ranjitha lodging a complaint with city police commissioner J.K. Tripathy against Sun TV network and its sister publication Dinakaran for defaming her and portraying her in bad light. The complaint also included Tamil publication Nakheeran and Mr Lenin.

Ms Ranjitha told mediapersons later in the evening her constitutionally-assured privacy has been “relentlessly breached by the Sun TV network by telecasting a spuriously obtained tape and claiming that it was me, on March 2, 2010”.

The telecast was followed by obscene articles and images by Dinakaran and Nakheeran and a few others, she added.

She delayed the complaint as she was threatened and warned not to come to Chennai but felt secure now and had full faith in CM Jayalalithaa and the CoP, she said. Asked about alleged negotiations some media house representatives held with her then, she finally said the persons were from Sun TV, Dinakaran and Nakheeran.

Mr Tripathy told reporters Ranjitha’s complaint has been transferred to the Central Crime Branch.

Her advocate told DC that she had sought action under the indecent portrayal of women Act, IT Act besides seeking criminal defamation.
