Rathore attacker knifes Talwar
Rajesh Talwar, the father of murdered teenager Aarushi Talwar, was on Tuesday attacked with a sharp-edged weapon by a 29-year-old man within the Ghaziabad court premises where he had gone in connection with the hearing on the closure report filed by the CBI in the 2008 Aarushi-Hemraj murder case.
The assailant is the same man who had earlier attacked former Haryana DGP S.P.S. Rathore, who was convicted in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation case, in Chandigarh on February 8, 2010. The police has arrested the accused and booked him for attempted murder. Though the young man claimed to be mentally unstable, the police said the accused had planned the attack in detail.
Dr Talwar was brought to Apollo Hospital in Delhi and was reported to be out of danger. However, Rebecca John, one of the lawyers for Dr Talwar and his wife, Nupur Talwar, told reporters the couple wanted the case shifted to Delhi due to lack of security in Ghaziabad. Following the incident, the court adjourned the hearing till February 8. On the other hand, the lawyers present at the Ghaziabad court created a ruckus, damaging media vehicles and shouting slogans against the media accusing it of being insensitive.
