Ready to count, says Assam CEO
With both the ruling Congress and Opposition confident of forming the next government in Assam, the Election Commission of India has completed preparation for a free and fair counting of votes for 126 constituencies at 48 counting centres across the state. Disclosing that three-tier security arrangements have been made to ensure
incident-free counting of votes, the chief electoral officer, Assam Hemanta Narzary said that counting will be held at 48 centres which will have 100 counting halls comprising 1,700 counting tables.
Mr Narzary said, “We are ready to count the votes on Friday.”
Mr Narzary also reviewed the preparations for counting of votes with chief election commission of India and returning officers of all the constituencies through video conferencing on Thursday.
Informing that counting will begin with the counting of postal ballots, Mr Narzary said that they have installed video cameras at every counting table to record the proceedings, which candidates can see and procure its recorded copy for any dispute or doubt.
