Vijayawada: Over 50 pilgrims from Krishna district had a providential escape from the devastation in Uttarakhand as their vehicles had to be stopped on the way Kedarnath due to heavy rush at the temple.
These fortunate pilgrims from the district reached Vijayawada by Kerala Express on Saturday evening. Narrating their harrowing experience, K. They said that they were stranded enroute Kedarnath and forced to spend five days in their bus without food and water. They expressed fear about the safety of those who reached Kedarnath before them.
Another pilgrim, Satyam of Mattapet in Jaggaiahpet mandal, said that the Uttarakhand government failed to take up rescue operations and nobody came to their rescue. Thousands of pilgrims are starving, he said.
