Recruitment issue: K’taka minister quits
After weeks of speculation over the fate of the chief minister’s closest aides and embarrassing questions in court over his conduct, minister for medical education, Ramachandra Gowda, accused of involvement in a recruitment scandal to colleges in Mysore and Hassan, resigned late on Saturday night. He sent his resignation to the chief minister, minutes before Mr B.S.Yeddyurappa left on a four day visit to China.
Mr Gowda said he resigned after the chief minister asked for his resignation following a report that he had violated 12 DPAR rules, was submitted by chief secretary, Mr S.V. Ranganath. Mr Gowda was en route to Tirupati when he received a call from the CM asking him to resign immediately, he said.
Only transport minister R. Ashok defended him. “I am confident Mr Ramchandra Gowda would come clean (sic) of the allegations levelled against him,” he said.
The chief minister and home minister refused comment.

School buzzes with Dabangg phone calls
AGE CORRESPONDENT
Jaipur
A resident of Fatehpur town was caught unawares when he found that the phone numbers of his private school got printed on the poster of Salman Khan starer Dabangg. O.P Jakhar, who runs a school in Fatehpur, says, “I have no connection with the film or Salman. I will take legal action.”
With the release of the film the frequency of calls increased and hindered his routine work, Mr Jakhar claims. Produced by Arbaaz Khan, the film has been attracting a huge audience across the state.
“I realised the phone numbers of my school got printed on the film poster. I do not know how it happened,” Mr Jakhar says.
