Reddy in 10-day CBI custody
Jailed mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy, who was produced in the special CBI court here on Friday, was remanded to CBI custody for 10 days in connection with the AMC (Associated Mining Corporation) scam.
Mr Reddy was brought here in the early hours of Friday by CBI officials from Hyderabad. Associated Mining Corporation and Deccan Mining Syndicate owned by Reddy and wife Gali Lakshmi Aruna, are being investigated for alleged involvement in illegal mining.
CBI officials produced him before special CBI court judge B.M. Angadi at 11 am. His close aide Ali Khan, who was missing for the past 6 months, surrendered before the same court and was remanded to CBI custody for 10 days.
Advocates Ravi B. Naik and C.V. Nagesh who appeared for Reddy, pressed for judicial custody or bail saying he was already in the judicial custody of the CBI court in Hyderabad. The judge, however, remanded him to CBI custody till March 12.
