Relief for property damage by CPMF
The Centre on Friday announced a new scheme for assistance towards damaged movable and immovable property during action by Central paramilitary forces and the Army in Jammu and Kashmir. A home ministry spokesperson said that the scheme is effective from June 3 this year.
The new scheme provides for compensation up to Rs 10 lakhs with a provision that a maximum of 70 per cent can be given for capital assets like houses destroyed during anti militants operations and the rest for the other household moveable property either of the owner or the tenant.
The compensation package will be scrutinised by a committee of deputy commissioner, Senior superintendent of police, executive engineer, representatives of ministry of defence and Central Paramilitary Forces before it is sanctioned.
“Since the relief being provided by the state government was inadequate, the home ministry formulated the new scheme with the objective to provide adequate relief for damage caused to the immovable and moveable property during action by CPMFs and Army,” a release said.
