Report a verbose document: BJP
The BJP National Executive on Thursday passed a resolution rejecting the report of the three member interlocutors’ report on Jammu and Kashmir that was formed by the Union government. BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday slammed the report where she claimed that the report was a “verbose document” which was “in complete denial mode about certain hard realities that prevail in Jammu and Kashmir”.
Ms Sitharaman said that it was unfortunate that the government had the report but did not release it till the parliament session was over. “We reject with a firm voice the report, that Jammu and Kashmir is a part of India doesn’t come out in the report, the key problem that is confronting the state is terrorism both from state and non state actors from outside and from within. Without suggesting any steps that are important for making a restoration of a peaceful solution and completely not talking about terrorism in the report dilutes the issues of terrorism,” said Ms Sitharaman.
The BJP spokesperson said that the report put at risk the future of secularism and co- existence in the valley. “Sikhs and Pandits who have tortured, threatened and killed and driven off from the valley, the report offers nothing to them, there is no concrete proposal for the rehabilitation of Sikhs and Kashmiri pundits,” said Ms Sitharaman.
She added that the report actually weakens the Indian position on Kashmir that J&K is an integral part of Kashmir.
“The real worry is that the interlocutors have coined a new nomenclature for POK, they have called it as Pakistan Administered Kashmir. This is a new nomenclature that has been brought up in the political discourse and this change is unfortunate and weakens the Indian position. This report undermines J&K’s integration in to India,” said Sitharaman. She added that the report failed to consider that Ladakh and Jammu faced serious issues of governance as compared to Kashmir.
