Representatives of 31 nations take stock of CWG security
Security heads of 31 countries, including Pakistan, participating in the Commonwealth Games on Thursday inspected security arrangements at the Games village and the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, main venue of the fortnight-long mega sporting event to be held here in October.
The delegation first visited the Games Village in east Delhi and then went to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to have a first hand assessment of security arrangements at the venues.
Delhi police commissioner Y.S. Dadwal accompanied the officials and briefed them about the arrangements for the Games, the venues of which will have a four-layered security ring.
Sources said live security demonstrations were given to the representatives of the Commonwealth countries at the Games village and the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, where the opening and closing ceremonies will be held.
Over 10,000 athletes from 71 countries and 500,000 spectators are expected to take part in the Games to be held from October 3-14.
A final security review by top Home Ministry officials is expected to be conducted on August 15.
