Revelations by ex- telecom secretary turns heat up on A. Raja
New Delhi: While DMK's A. Raja chooses not to comment on the 2G scam, a former secretary of the DOT (department of telecommunications) has revealed that he refused to sign files related to licensing and that he resisted A. Raja's attempts to grant licenses without first setting up an "equitable and transparent policy".
Making the comments to a news channel, DS Mathur is quoted as stating, "The minister had asked me to advance the cut-off date in October but I refused stating that it would against the principles of natural justice."
Added Mathur, "When the minister (Raja) did not listen to my counsel, I told the joint secretary concerned that I would not sign any files on licensing matters, therefore no files should be put up before me." The former secretary retired from office on December 31, 2007.
