Rickshawpuller’s baby on life support, critical
Though the help pouring in from all quarters, there is no ending the sight to the sufferings of motherless Damini, the one-month-old baby girl of Bharatpur’s rickshawpuller Bablu. She has been admitted to Fortis hospital in Jaipur in critical condition. The doctors treating her said Damini’s condition is critical and she has been kept on life support system.
“She is too weak and we are trying our best,” says Dr Jaykrishan Mittal of Fortis hospital.
“We have consulted all senior doctors in Bharatpur and Jaipur. Hence, decided to shift Damini to Jaipur for better treatment,” district collector of Bharatpur J.P. Shukla said. Her father Bablu Jatav also made a request to the administration to shift his daughter to Jaipur. Damini’s mother died five days giving birth to baby girl and since there was no one to look after the girl, her father Bablu started carrying her in a cloth sling around his neck while pulling rickshaw to earn his livelihood.
His story drew worldwide attention and people made a beeline to help her. She was admitted to a local hospital three days ago after suffering from dehydration. “My daughter is not well and I am worried, she is too weak because she was not fed by mother,” said Bablu.
