Rishi favours revival of film ties with Pak
Veteran Hindi film actor Rishi Kapoor has welcomed the idea of revival of film ties with Pakistan. The star actor on Friday stated that joint production between the two countries should be promoted.
“We welcome joint productions with Pakistan and work in healthy conditions, provided we have a good script and a good story to tell. Pakistan has some great talent and great people,” Rishi Kapoor stated at the HT Leadership Summit.
He stated that his home banner RK Studios had produced the 1991 film Heena with Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiyar in the lead and added that Sufi singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was introduced to India by his late father Raj Kapoor.
The actor stated that today’s cinema was definitely of a better quality. “We are making the best cinema today. People might say that old films were better, but I beg to differ. I missed the music of my times though,” he said.
Giving an example he stated that “today actors are more fearless, they experiment more. Today’s films can be made on isolated incidents, and need not be a complete story.”
Meanwhile, actor Ranbir Kapoor, who accompanied his father at the summit stated that he wants to be rid of the title of “youth icon”. He said that the title is merely a burden and he does not want a “Jesus” like persona.
