RJD expels 2 for RS cross-vote

The opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Friday expelled two legislators for six years for voting for the ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) during the Rajya Sabha elections on Thursday in Bihar.

Mr Rajesh Kumar Singh and Mr Pappu Yadav were expelled for violating the party whip.
“The party has expelled two legislators for cross-voting in favour of the JD(U) during the Rajya Sabha elections on Thursday,” state RJD president Abdul Bari Siddiqui said.
Besides the RJD legislators, five Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislators, one Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator and one Congress legislator voted in violation of their respective party whips.
The BJP and BSP have also threatened action against their legislators for cross-voting.
Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan, BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy, the JD(U)’s Upendra Kushwaha and R.C.P. Singh, and the RJD’s Ram Kripal Yadav were elected to the Rajya Sabha.
