RLD plans rallies against UP govt

The Rashtriya Lok Dal in Uttar Pradesh is preparing to mount an offensive against the ruling Samajwadi Party by organising a series of rallies across the state that will “expose the true face of the government.”
The rallies will be in addition to its on-going programme of “RLD Aapke Dwar” in which the party leaders are holding “chaupals” in villages to “expose” the Akhilesh government.’
A series of rallies was kicked off with a rally in Kairana in western UP on Sunday. The rally was convened by Muzaffa-rnagar MLA Kartar Singh Bhadana, who is tipped to be the RLD candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Former RLD MP from Kairana, Anuradha Choudhury, has already crossed over to the Samajwadi Party.
After Kairana, RLD plans to hold rallies in Baghpat which is the bastion of Choudhury Ajit Singh and then in Bulandshahr and Bijnore. The programme was the remaining rallies will be finalised shortly.
RLD state president Munna Singh Chauhan told this correspondent on Sunday that the focus of these rallies would be the anti-farmer policies and the poor governance of the Akhilesh government.
“Whether it is the issue of sugarcane prices, corruption or law and order — the state government has failed on all accounts. The Samajwadi leaders claim to be farmer-friendly but all their policies are designed to protect the interests of capitalists and big business,” he said.
Apart from launching an offensive against the state government, the RLD is also working towards setting its own house in order before the general elections.
RLD president Ajit Singh has directed party leaders to ensure that the membership drive gets a major boost in the coming days so that the party can have a presence in every village in UP.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
