Role of institutions in terror be probed: Moily

With the alleged role of some RSS leaders in acts of terrorism coming to light, Union law and justice minister M. Veerappa Moily on Saturday said there was a serious need to look into the activities of some institutions which were training people to turn them into militants.
“There are certain institutions in our own country that train persons to become militants. And that is a thing we seriously need to look into. The issue is how terrorism is born in our country and spread,” he stated.
“Merely eulogising the country is not enough unless he is a patriot with patience and love and trust for his own fellowmen. Terrorism needs to be curbed from the minds of the people,” he said.
The law minister stated that terrorism needs to be rooted out by means of educating the youth at a young age. He also emphasised on the need to introduce curriculum to encourage patience and love for fellow countrymen.
On the issue of reported confession of Swami Aseemanand regarding his alleged role in the Samjhauta Express blast, Mr Moily said investigations in the light of the statement were on by the CBI. “We don’t want to interfere with the investigations,” the Law Minister said.
The minister also clarified that terrorism cannot be defined as Islamic or Hindu terrorism.

RSS notice to CBI for ‘leaking’ confession
AGE CORRESPONDENT
New Delhi

Jan. 8: The RSS, which had alleged that the reported confession of Samjhauta Express blast accused Swami Aseemanand was selectively leaked to the media, on Saturday sent a notice to the CBI. The organisation has contended that the reported confession was “politically motivated” and as part of a calculated move to “jeopardise” Aseemanand’s reputation and deny him a fair treatment.
However, the CPI(M) urged government to continue pursuing investigation into bomb blast cases involving “Hindutva terror groups.” The Left party also called these groups as threat to the country.
