RPF detects explosives from train coach
On the eve of Republic Day, RPF personnel detected explosive materials from a train compartment at Barharwa station of Eastern Railway's Malda division on Wednesday, railway sources said.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RPF personnel conducted raid on one of the general second class coaches of Down Jamalpur-Howrah express early today at Barharwa station and detected a tourist bag under a seat.
Sources said that the bag contained a good quantity of explosive materials, including 600 gms of explosive potassium, 900 gms of explosive suplhur, two dozens of needles, broken pices of plates, thin jute string weighing about 700 gms and 14 empty tin zarda boxes.
The carrier of the bag was yet to be nabbed. The bag was handed over to the GRP of Barharwa and a complaint lodged.
