Rs 400/ month for Brittle bone patients
Thiruvanathapuram: Amid the flurry of black flag demonstrations and the hullabaloo over the solar fraud, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy didn’t fail to notice the miseries of children suffering from brittle bone disease.
At a function organised by an NGO, speakers criticised the lack of medical and financial aid from the government. Soon the CM directed his cabinet colleagues Health Minister V. S. Sivakumar and Social Welfare Minister Dr M. K. Muneer to visit Kanakakunnu palace, where the function was taking place, and get a feedback on their problems.
The ministers spoke to the organisers and submitted a draft report before the Cabinet in the evening. Later, the CM announced a series of measures including Rs 400 per month to caretakers of the affected children, free injection under the Thalolum project and handicap pension for children with 40 per cent disability.
