Rs 6.25L recovered from beggar couple
Penny and penny make many, many, many.
Physically challenged Abdul Samadh, 55, of Mannargudi and wife Noorjahan, 45, who beg outside a mosque near Aathupaalam in Thanjavur (Tamil Nadu), were recently found in possession of Rs 6.25 lakh.
The couple, which already has a house in Chennai, was planning to buy another in Thanjavur as it was finding it tough to spend the nights in streets.
The couple’s riches were revealed on December 2 when Mansoor of Keezhavasal in Thanjavur reported his mobile missing after praying at the mosque. The administrators searched all beggars outside and found the money hidden in a bag.
The couple told police it raised the fortune by begging outside mosques in Chennai, Tiruchy, Erwadi and Nagore.
